Skid Row Housing Trust Exhibit

Art for Animals’ Sake (AFAS) and the Skid Row Housing Trust present resident artists in their first group exhibition “Creating Compassion”. Working in various artistic mediums including acrylic paint, drawing and mixed media, each piece is inspired by lively discussions about the human-animal relationship created by formerly homeless individuals transitioning into permanent housing.

Description:
Since 2014, Art for Animals’ Sake has been engaging SRHT residents in weekly group art activities. The Creating Compassion Art Program presents subject matters that are often controversial and difficult but which reflect injustices in our society, such as the systemic oppression of both people and animals. Our goal is to use art as a catalyst for both healing and positive change.

AFAS is unique in offering free classes that combine art education, animal advocacy and social justice to underserved communities.

Art is available for purchase!
